Into a lab. Into an internship. Into a school. Each one looks like a wall from the outside and turns out, up close, to be a set of things you can actually find out and act on. I help students do that.

One conversation, no fixed agenda. Bring a lab you want into, an offer you don't understand, a resume that isn't getting replies, a college list, or just the vague sense that you're doing the wrong things with your time. We work on what you actually brought.

  • You send the context beforehand, so the paid time is spent on the problem and not the briefing

For the student who wants research on their record and has no idea how people actually get it. Two routes, and we pick based on where you are: get into someone else's lab, or start a project of your own and take it to a real venue.

  • Finding the labs and programs that would genuinely take you, not the famous ones that won't
  • The email to a professor that gets opened, read and answered
  • Picking a first problem small enough to finish and real enough to matter
  • How a paper is actually built, reviewed and submitted — venues, deadlines, what reviewers look for
  • What to do when the first attempt doesn't work, which is the normal case

For a search that isn't converting, or one you haven't started and don't know how to. We build the whole pipeline — what you're selling, who's buying it, how they hear from you, and what happens when an offer finally lands.

  • Positioning: the version of you that a specific team is looking for
  • Resume and profile rebuilt against the postings you're actually targeting
  • Outreach and referrals that get replies, plus the tracking behind it
  • Interview preparation — behavioural, technical, and the questions you ask them
  • Reading and negotiating the offer when it comes, including equity you haven't seen before

The whole application, from a blank page to submitted. I work with the student directly and keep the parents informed, so nobody is guessing where things stand in October.

  • A school list built around the student in front of me, not a ranking

Why me

I'm Rohan Pandey. I came out of undergrad with a job in tech, having held multiple offers from top companies and from startups, and with fourteen published papers behind me — first author at ICLR and ICML, and named top AI researcher by the UW Math AI Lab.

I mention the papers not as a trophy but because they're the thing most students think is out of reach. It isn't. Almost none of that came from being the smartest person in a room. It came from working out, early, that every one of these gates is a system with rules you can learn: who decides, what they're looking at, what makes a yes easy for them to give.

That's the whole method, and it's the same one whether the gate is a lab, a recruiter, or an admissions reader. Most students never get told any of it, and then conclude the problem is them.

I work with a small number of people at a time, which is why the calendar is what it is.

The other side of the same practice. Somebody on your team is doing work a system should be doing — I build the system, hand it over, and leave.

Advisory call · $500

You describe the bottleneck; I tell you honestly whether automation is the right answer, and sometimes it isn't. Written summary within 48 hours. Credited in full against a build within 60 days.

One process end to end — intake, routing, drafting, extraction, reporting. Written scope before you pay anything, handover doc and walkthrough at delivery, 14 days of fixes included.

Questions people actually ask

I can't afford this. Is that the end of it?

No. Write to me, say what you can do, and say a little about your situation. I keep a few reduced places open in every cycle and I would rather fill them than leave them. You don't need to make a case or prove anything — asking is enough.

I'm a high school student. Can I work with you?

Yes, and I speak with a parent before we start. They don't have to sit in on the sessions, but I want them to know what we're doing and to have agreed to it.

Do I need to already be good at research to do the research package?

No. The package assumes you've done none and want to start. If you're already mid-project and stuck on something specific, the 90-minute session is the better use of your money.

Can you guarantee I get into a lab, a job, or a school?

No, and nobody honestly can. Those decisions are made by people I don't control, using criteria I only partly see. What I can do is make sure you're not losing on the parts that are yours to control, which is where most people lose.

Is my situation confidential?

Yes. I don't share offer numbers, school lists, drafts, company names or anything else, and I don't use your situation as an anonymised example without asking you first.

Has this actually worked for anyone?

I've mentored more than ten students through research, and every one of them published a paper. That's the record I'd point at. The prices on this page are low because I'm early in running this as a practice, not because the work is untested — and they won't stay here.
